ICC Champions Trophy 2025 trophy tour to begin in Islamabad from Nov 16 to 24

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 trophy tour will commence from Islamabad on November 16, even as uncertainty looms regarding India’s participation in the tournament set to be hosted in Pakistan next February. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that the trophy will travel across scenic locations including Skardu, Murree, Hunza, and Muzaffarabad from November 16 to 24.

The PCB shared on social media, inviting fans to “catch a glimpse of the trophy which Sarfaraz Ahmed lifted in 2017 at The Oval.” The silverware arrived in Islamabad from Dubai, two days ahead of the scheduled tour.

This marks the first time an ICC event’s trophy tour is being held before the official release of the tournament schedule, which typically happens four months before the event’s start date. The delay is attributed to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which recently informed the ICC that the Indian team would not travel to Pakistan due to longstanding political and security concerns. The ICC is caught in a challenging position, balancing the BCCI’s stance with the PCB’s firm opposition to a proposed hybrid model for the tournament.

Broadcasters, who secured ICC rights for a record $3 billion through 2027, have been pressing for an immediate schedule release, given the revenue-generating potential of Pakistan-India clashes. These marquee matchups are pivotal for driving viewership and advertising revenue, and delays are jeopardizing broadcasters’ planning and promotional efforts.
