Action to be taken against cyber terrorism targeting journalists: Attaullah Tarar

Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage, and Culture Attaullah Tarar announced on Tuesday that stringent measures will be implemented against those involved in cyber terrorism aimed at harassing journalists and their families through social media platforms.

The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has strongly denounced these acts of online harassment. Tarar assured that all those responsible will face consequences, as the government is determined to protect journalists and their families from such threats.
Criticizing the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the minister accused the party of sowing seeds of hatred and division within the nation. He noted that the PTI’s call for boycotting Pakistani products aligns with a foreign agenda aimed at undermining national institutions. Tarar further accused the PTI of failing to address critical global issues, such as the genocide of Palestinians, and criticized their absence from an all-parties conference on Palestine.
He alleged that the PTI leadership, under foreign influence, has avoided supporting Palestine and is instead working to weaken Pakistan’s military and institutions. Tarar reiterated that a strong army is essential for a strong nation, emphasizing the Pakistani Army’s globally recognized professionalism and efficiency.
The minister also acknowledged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for opposing PTI’s call for civil disobedience, praising it as a step prioritizing national interests over personal or party gains.
In his concluding remarks, Tarar referred to past warnings by late Hakeem Saeed and Dr. Israr Ahmed, who had cautioned about the PTI’s agenda. He criticized the PTI’s attempts to spread anarchy on May 9 and November 26, declaring that those involved would face justice.
