Two CTD Officials Dismissed Over Alleged Links With Drug Dealer Anmol ‘Pinky’

  • Two CTD officials in Karachi have been dismissed following an inquiry.
  • The officials were accused of maintaining links with alleged drug dealer Anmol alias Pinky.
  • A court has given investigators until June 9 to submit challans in multiple cases against Pinky.

Two officials of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) have been dismissed from service over their alleged links with notorious drug dealer Anmol alias Pinky in Karachi.

The dismissed officials have been identified as Constable Ali Qureshi and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Kafeel. According to CTD sources, both officials were found to have maintained contacts with Pinky over the past several years.

Sources said ASI Kafeel Awan had arrested one of Pinky’s motorcycle riders a few years ago. Following that arrest, his alleged contacts with the suspected drug dealer reportedly increased.

The action was taken after the completion of an inquiry into the allegations against the two officials. Authorities reviewed evidence and finalized the investigation report before ordering their dismissal.

Officials said Ali Qureshi and Kafeel Awan had also been taken into custody a few days earlier, during which their formal statements were recorded as part of the investigation process.

As part of the inquiry, forensic examinations of the mobile phones belonging to both officials were conducted. Investigators also obtained details of their bank accounts to examine any possible financial links.

Meanwhile, legal proceedings against Anmol alias Pinky continue. A Judicial Magistrate has granted investigating officers time until June 9 to submit challans in seven cases involving allegations of murder and drug-related offences against the accused.

The court has also fixed June 8 for recording the statement of the complainant under Section 164, an important step in the ongoing investigation and prosecution process.
