A World Bank delegation is expected to visit Punjab in the near future to review the programme and explore potential areas of cooperation.
Officials said Apni Chhat Apna Ghar has been recognised as one of the world’s largest interest-free housing finance programmes, designed to help low- and middle-income families achieve home ownership through affordable financing options.
International housing experts have reportedly described the initiative as a successful model that could be adapted and replicated in other developing countries facing housing shortages and affordability challenges.
The programme has also been highlighted as a notable example of affordable and social housing finance, reflecting Punjab’s efforts to improve access to housing for underserved segments of society.
A spokesperson for the Housing Department said the initiative was developed after studying and incorporating lessons from successful housing models implemented in different countries around the world.
