Punjab government launches ‘Karobar Card’ loan scheme for small businesses

The Punjab Government has unveiled the ‘Karobar Card’ Scheme, aimed at empowering small business owners with financial support. Announced during a meeting in Lahore chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the initiative will provide loans ranging from Rs100,000 to Rs1 million to eligible entrepreneurs, fostering economic growth in the province.

Additionally, the government introduced the ‘Chief Minister Aasan Karobar Financing Scheme,’ targeting medium-sized businesses. This program will offer loans of up to Rs30 million, repayable over five years, further bolstering Punjab’s business and industrial sectors. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized that these efforts aim to create job opportunities and stimulate economic development.

Other Key Initiatives by the Punjab Government

Earlier in the week, the Punjab Government rolled out several public welfare programs under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, including:

  1. Punjab Free Solar Panel Scheme: This program will provide 100,000 solar systems free of charge to electricity consumers using up to 200 units per month. Verified through CNICs, the initiative is expected to reduce carbon emissions and alleviate pressure on federal subsidies.
  2. Honhaar Scholarship Scheme: Offering 30,000 scholarships to students from public and private universities, the scheme prioritizes female and Southern Punjab students. The government has pledged to fully fund foreign education for qualifying students.
  3. Chief Minister’s Laptop and Merit Scholarship Program: Under this initiative, 90,000 laptops will be distributed to top-performing students, minority students, and those in specialized fields such as medicine and agriculture. The first phase will see 5,000 laptops distributed within the next month.
  4. Dialysis Card Scheme: With an allocation of Rs1 million per patient, this program aims to improve healthcare access for those requiring dialysis.

In addition, the Chief Minister addressed the growing AIDS cases in Multan, ordering immediate action to tackle the issue and reaffirming the government’s commitment to healthcare improvement.
