Public Holiday Announced in Mirpur Division on July 27 for AJK Elections

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has declared a public holiday in Mirpur Division on July 27 following a request from the Election Commission for the first phase of the AJK Legislative Assembly elections.

The Services and General Administration Department has issued an official notification confirming that the holiday will apply only to the districts of Mirpur Division, where polling will take place on July 27.

Speaking at a press conference, Chief Election Commissioner Ghulam Mustafa Mughal said the Legislative Assembly elections would be conducted in three phases to ensure security, administrative convenience, and a transparent electoral process.

According to the election schedule, polling will be held in Mirpur Division on July 27, followed by Muzaffarabad Division and the 12 refugee constituencies on August 2. The final phase of polling in Poonch Division is scheduled for August 10.

The Chief Election Commissioner added that Pakistan Army personnel, along with other security forces, will be deployed across polling stations to help ensure peaceful and orderly elections.
