The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has announced a local holiday on June 8 in connection with the annual Urs celebrations of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi.

According to an official notification issued by the Human Resource Management Department of the KMC, June 8, corresponding to 22 ZilHajj 1447 AH, has been declared a local holiday across Karachi.
The notification stated that the decision was taken in accordance with a resolution approved by the Karachi City Council. As a result, all offices and departments operating under the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation will remain closed on the designated day.
However, authorities have clarified that institutions and offices providing essential and emergency services will continue to function normally to ensure uninterrupted public services for citizens.
KMC officials said the holiday has been formally approved by the competent authority and all relevant departments have been directed to implement the notification accordingly.
The annual Urs of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi is one of Karachi’s most significant religious events, attracting large numbers of devotees from across the city and other parts of the country. Special arrangements are typically made by civic authorities to facilitate visitors and maintain public order during the celebrations.
