Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Arrive in Pakistan on High-Level State Visit

ISLAMABAD: Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian is set to undertake a high-level state visit to Pakistan on Tuesday at the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, marking another important step in the ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two neighbouring countries.

According to the Foreign Office, President Pezeshkian will be accompanied by a senior delegation comprising ministers and other high-ranking officials. The visit will be his second trip to Pakistan since assuming office as President of Iran, highlighting the continued momentum in bilateral relations between Islamabad and Tehran.

During his stay, President Pezeshkian is scheduled to hold extensive talks with Pakistan’s top leadership. He will meet President Asif Ali Zardari and hold detailed discussions with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on a wide range of bilateral, regional and international issues.

The Iranian president will also call on the Chairman Senate, the Speaker of the National Assembly, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, reflecting the broad scope of institutional engagement planned during the visit.

Pakistan and Iran are expected to review the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation, with particular focus on expanding trade, strengthening energy partnerships, improving border security coordination, promoting regional connectivity, and enhancing people-to-people contacts. Both sides are likely to explore practical measures aimed at boosting economic ties and facilitating smoother cross-border collaboration.

A major component of the discussions will be the review of progress made under the understandings reached through the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. Officials from both countries are expected to assess implementation efforts and identify additional measures to advance mutually agreed areas of cooperation.

Energy collaboration and trade facilitation are expected to remain central themes of the talks, while border management and security cooperation will also receive significant attention. The two countries are additionally expected to discuss ways to deepen cultural, educational and social exchanges.

Beyond bilateral matters, Pakistan and Iran will exchange views on key regional and global developments. The consultations are expected to focus on evolving geopolitical challenges, regional stability and opportunities for greater cooperation in promoting peace and sustainable development.
