The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested four officials of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) in Charsadda over allegations of issuing Pakistani identity cards to foreign nationals, including Afghan citizens.

According to reports, the arrests were made during an FIA operation carried out by officials from the agency’s Peshawar zone. Among those taken into custody was Assistant Director and Office In-charge Waqar Ahmed.

FIA officials said important documents and records were recovered from the possession of the accused during the raid. The seized material is expected to play a key role in the ongoing investigation.

Authorities have registered a case against the arrested officials and initiated formal investigations to determine the extent of the alleged illegal issuance of identity documents.

Sources said Waqar Ahmed was already under investigation in several other cases and departmental inquiries before his arrest in the latest operation.

The FIA is also expanding its investigation to identify other individuals who may have facilitated the alleged issuance of identity cards to foreign nationals. Raids are continuing at various locations to arrest additional suspects linked to the case.

Officials said further details are expected to emerge as investigators examine the recovered records and pursue other alleged facilitators involved in the network.
