PPP Could Withdraw Support from Government, Warns Nadeem Afzal Chan

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Nadeem Afzal Chan has warned that his party could withdraw its support for the federal government at an appropriate time, saying the current administration has failed to effectively address the country’s challenges.
Speaking on Dunya News programme Dunya Mehr Bukhari Ke Saath, Chan said Pakistan’s current situation demands that all political parties put aside personal and political differences and come together to develop a united strategy for resolving the country’s pressing issues.

He expressed support for Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s recent call for dialogue among all stakeholders, saying the minister’s arguments carry weight and deserve serious discussion in both parliament and the media.
Nadeem Afzal Chan also called for a national debate on Pakistan’s system of governance, questioning whether the country should continue under the parliamentary system or consider moving towards a presidential model. As a political worker, he said he believes the existing system is no longer functioning effectively.
Commenting on Mohsin Naqvi’s recent remarks, the PPP leader said the interior minister’s public expression of concern reflects the seriousness of the country’s situation. He also revealed that the PPP leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari, was unaware that Mohsin Naqvi was going to make those statements.
Criticising the government’s overall performance, Chan said the administration has failed to deliver and reiterated that the PPP could decide to withdraw its support from the government if the situation demands it.
