PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat faces 15 cases in Islamabad, police confirms

Islamabad police confirmed on Friday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat is facing charges in 15 cases registered in the federal capital. The disclosure was made during a hearing at the Islamabad High Court (IHC), where Marwat sought details of the cases filed against him.

Marwat alleged that police attempted to arrest him at the court despite a previous order against such actions. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Legal Sajid Cheema assured the court that all relevant First Information Reports (FIRs) had been included in the report submitted to the court.

Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir presided over the hearing and inquired about the number of sealed FIRs mentioned in the report. He directed the DSP to provide copies of the sealed FIRs for further examination. Addressing Marwat, Justice Tahir remarked, “The injustices happening now are the same as those that occurred when your party was in power.”

Marwat also highlighted that the Punjab police had yet to provide any reports related to his cases. In response, the court issued notices to the Inspector General of Punjab Police, ensuring the matter would be addressed comprehensively.
