Faiz provided evidence against Imran Khan; Faisal Vawda

Former minister and independent Senator Faisal Vawda has alleged that retired Lt-Gen Faiz Hameed has provided substantial evidence, including proof and devices, against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. Speaking to a private news channel on Friday, Vawda claimed that the challenges facing Imran Khan and his followers are likely to intensify.

He further asserted that Faiz Hameed himself could face legal consequences, suggesting that the retired general would also be punished. According to Vawda, the trial of Faiz Hameed has weakened the PTI’s call for civil disobedience, and if Hameed is not prosecuted, Imran Khan, his spouse, and his followers might find some relief.

Vawda also hinted that Imran Khan could face trial in a military court, citing ongoing investigations into alleged crimes involving the former prime minister. He speculated that a new social media campaign by the PTI could surface, portraying Pakistan negatively through imagery of Syrian prisoners.

On the matter of PTI’s stance towards negotiations, Vawda urged both the government and the PTI to engage in dialogue. He remarked that while Nawaz Sharif remains the key decision-maker for the government, he has yet to make a public statement. He also noted a shift in Imran Khan’s approach, stating that the PTI leader is now advocating for talks.

Vawda emphasized that military trials follow the collection of comprehensive evidence, reiterating that a trial of Imran Khan by a military court would not be surprising. He suggested that PTI’s civil disobedience movement might be postponed under the pretext of honoring party martyrs.

He also alleged that certain individuals had provided audio recordings and messages implicating Imran Khan. Vawda linked these developments to the time when General Faiz served as corps commander during the Peshawar sit-in, claiming that PTI’s focus then was on protecting the retired general.
