Educators in Punjab to follow new dress code and discipline guidelines

The Punjab Education Department has introduced a mandatory dress code for male and female educators in government schools. A circular issued by the department outlines specific attire requirements and emphasizes maintaining discipline and character-building in schools.

According to the circular, male teachers are required to wear either a shalwar kameez with a waistcoat or pants with a shirt and tie. Regular shaving is also mandatory for male educators. Female teachers must wear a shalwar kameez paired with a scarf, along with closed, non-transparent shoes.

Heads of schools have been directed to ensure strict adherence to the dress code and enforce compliance among staff.

In addition to the dress code, the department has instructed teachers to prioritize completing the syllabus during the final session. Daily lectures, active engagement with students, and character-building activities have been highlighted as essential responsibilities for educators.

Supervision during breaks and recess is also emphasized, with a directive to prevent children from leaving school premises through the main gate.

The circular stresses the importance of hygiene, encouraging children to wash their hands after using the toilet. Schools have been instructed to ensure that washrooms are well-equipped with water, soap, and towels.

Before closing schools, staff are required to switch off all electrical appliances, including lights, fans, heaters, and water pumps, and secure all doors and windows.
