Shaun Tait Steps Down As Bangladesh Fast Bowling Coach

Former Australia fast bowler Shaun Tait has resigned from his role as Bangladesh’s fast bowling coach with immediate effect, bringing an end to his 12-month stint with the national team.
Tait announced his decision on Thursday, saying he wants to spend more time with his young family after a year of full-time commitments with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Reflecting on his tenure, Tait said his time with the Bangladesh team had been fulfilling and rewarding. He thanked the BCB and expressed appreciation for the players, particularly the fast bowling unit, with whom he developed strong working relationships.
“I really enjoyed working with the players. I have a great relationship with the fast bowling group. They were good to work with and I created some really good relationships in Bangladesh and within the cricketing community,” Tait said.
The former Australian pacer also suggested that his departure may not mark the end of his association with cricket in Bangladesh. He noted that opportunities such as the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) could bring him back in the future.
Tait explained that the demands of a year-round coaching role across both red-ball and white-ball cricket had led him to reassess his priorities.
“My young family need a bit more of my time. The full-time role of year-round cricket was enough for me after 12 months, and now it’s time to step back and spend more time with them,” he added.
Tait joined Bangladesh’s coaching staff in May last year after being appointed on a contract that was originally set to run until November 2027. He succeeded former New Zealand all-rounder Andre Adams in the role.
During his tenure, Bangladesh’s pace attack made significant progress and emerged as one of the team’s major strengths. One of the standout achievements under his guidance was Bangladesh’s historic 2-0 Test series victory over Pakistan.
Tait had consistently backed the country’s fast bowlers, recently stating that Bangladesh should now recognize pace bowling as one of its strongest assets rather than relying solely on spin.
Apart from his work with Bangladesh, Tait has also coached in the Bangladesh Premier League with Chittagong Kings and previously held coaching roles with Pakistan and Afghanistan.
According to reports, the BCB is considering former Bangladesh fast bowler Talha Jubair as Tait’s temporary replacement for the upcoming home white-ball series against Australia.
Bangladesh are scheduled to host Australia in a three-match ODI series beginning on June 9 in Dhaka.
