Lahore Qalandars beat Desert Vipers by 38 runs to register second straight GSL win

Lahore Qalandars continued their winning start to the Global Super League (GSL) 2026 with a convincing 38-run victory over Desert Vipers in their second match at Providence Stadium on Friday.
Leg-spinner Usama Mir starred with the ball, claiming four wickets to help Lahore defend their total after an unbeaten partnership between Parvez Hossain Emon and captain Michael Bracewell lifted the team to a competitive score.

After being asked to bat first, Lahore Qalandars recovered from early setbacks to post 176-4 in their 20 overs. The innings was anchored by an unbroken 83-run partnership between Bangladesh opener Parvez Hossain Emon and New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell.
Lahore made a steady start as Shayan Jahangir and Shamyl Hussain added 37 runs for the opening wicket. Jahangir scored 28 off 30 balls before the Vipers struck with quick wickets. Abdullah Shafique and Shamyl Hussain were dismissed cheaply, leaving Lahore at 49-3 inside eight overs.
Farhan Yousaf then contributed a useful 22 and shared a 44-run stand with Emon before becoming the fourth batter to fall with the score at 93-4 in the 14th over.
Emon and Bracewell then took control of the innings. Emon remained unbeaten on 47 from 33 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes, while Bracewell smashed an unbeaten 46 off just 23 deliveries, including four boundaries and three sixes. Khary Pierre was the pick of the Desert Vipers bowlers with two wickets.
In reply, Desert Vipers made a strong start as Kyle Mayers and Andries Gous put together a 70-run opening partnership. Mayers scored 30 off 28 balls before his dismissal sparked a collapse.
Usama Mir then turned the match in Lahore’s favour with a superb spell of 4-28, removing key middle-order batters. Although Gous fought back with 56 off 38 balls, including seven fours and two sixes, he lacked support from the other end.
Lahore’s disciplined bowling attack kept the pressure on throughout the innings, restricting Desert Vipers to 138-9 in their 20 overs to secure a comfortable 38-run victory.
With two consecutive wins, Lahore Qalandars have strengthened their position as one of the early favourites in the Global Super League 2026, thanks to their balanced batting, experienced leadership and effective bowling attack.
