Charges against Faiz Hameed are military’s internal matter, not connected with PTI, Says Chairman Barrister Gohar

Barrister Gohar, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), clarified that the charges against former Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed are strictly an internal military issue and have no connection with PTI.
In his statement, Barrister Gohar emphasized that the military has its own set of rules and regulations for handling trials, ensuring independence in its judicial processes. He pointed out that Faiz Hameed has only been charged at this stage, adding that court-martial proceedings require solid and indisputable evidence for a verdict.

The PTI Chairman further mentioned that discussions regarding the ongoing civil disobedience movement would be held with the party’s founder.
Earlier Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed’s court-martial proceedings where he has been formally charged with engaging in political activities, violating the Official Secrets Act, abusing authority, and causing financial losses. Allegations include his role in the May 9, 2023, riots and misuse of government resources. The ISPR confirmed the proceedings began on August 12, 2024, under the Pakistan Army Act.
