753 PTI leaders and workers sent to jail on judicial remand

A court on Saturday ordered the judicial remand of 753 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers arrested during a protest in Islamabad.

The protesters were detained after holding a rally at D-Chowk in violation of Islamabad High Court orders, which had prohibited the gathering in the capital. The rally turned violent as participants allegedly damaged property and disregarded the law, prompting police and rangers to intervene.

Following the expiration of their physical remand, police from Attock’s Hazro station, Sadar Hasan Abdal station, and Rawalpindi’s Dhamiyal station presented the arrested individuals in court. The duty judge subsequently directed that the activists be sent to jail on judicial remand.
