The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) announced that two ITF W15,000 Women’s Futures tournaments will be held in Islamabad, starting on October 5, 2026. The tournaments will take place ahead of the Billie Jean King Cup and are expected to attract international participation.
According to the federation, this will be the first time that Pakistan hosts two back-to-back ITF W15,000 Women’s Futures events, making it an important milestone for both Pakistani tennis and the development of women’s sports in the country.
PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi said the federation had previously focused on creating international opportunities for male players through ITF Men’s Futures tournaments and was now extending similar support to female athletes.
He said the tournaments would allow Pakistani women players to earn international ranking points and gain valuable competitive experience without the financial burden of travelling abroad. He added that the events would also help players prepare for future international competitions, including the Billie Jean King Cup.
Several leading Pakistani players are expected to benefit from the initiative, including Ushna Suhail, Mahin Aftab, Soha Ali, Romaisa Malik, Bismal Zia, Meheq Khokhar, Zunaisha Noor, Zainab Ali Raja, Fatima Ali Raja and Laibah Durab, along with other emerging talents.
The Pakistan Women’s Tennis Association, which was established in 2024, has been actively supporting the growth of women’s tennis in the country. Officials believe the upcoming tournaments will further strengthen opportunities for female athletes and encourage greater participation in the sport.
Pakistan Women’s Tennis Association President Asma Khawar Khawaja said the events would enhance Pakistan’s standing in international tennis and demonstrate the federation’s commitment to developing future champions.
PTF Secretary General Col Zia-ud-Din Tufail described the hosting of two consecutive ITF Women’s Futures tournaments as a major achievement, saying it would provide local players with increased international exposure while helping raise the overall standard of women’s tennis in Pakistan.
