Pakistan restores previous speed limits on motorways and national highways

The Government of Pakistan has reversed its earlier decision to temporarily lower speed limits on motorways and national highways, reinstating the previous maximum speed limits for all categories of vehicles.
Motorway Police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed confirmed that cars and other light vehicles will once again be allowed to travel at a maximum speed of 120 kilometres per hour (km/h) on motorways.

He added that the speed limit for passenger buses and heavy transport vehicles on motorways has been restored to 110 km/h.
According to the spokesperson, the previously applicable speed limits for all categories of vehicles on national highways have also been reinstated.
While announcing the decision, the Motorway Police stressed that motorists must continue to follow all traffic laws and adhere strictly to the prescribed speed limits to ensure road safety.
Syed Imran Ahmed advised drivers to maintain controlled speeds, wear seat belts at all times and remain vigilant while travelling.
He said the restoration of the previous speed limits is aimed at facilitating smoother travel for road users, while emphasising that public safety remains the government’s foremost priority.
