Kohli Ruled Out Of Afghanistan ODI Series Due To Hamstring Injury

• Virat Kohli to miss entire three-match ODI series against Afghanistan
• Star batter suffered hamstring injury ahead of series
• Rohit Sharma’s availability also uncertain due to fitness concerns

India have suffered a major setback ahead of their ODI series against Afghanistan, with batting superstar Virat Kohli ruled out after sustaining a hamstring injury.

According to a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) source quoted by PTI, the veteran batter will not be available for the three-match series, which is scheduled to begin on June 13 in Dharamsala.

The remaining matches of the series will be played in Lucknow on June 17 and Chennai on June 20.

Kohli’s absence comes as a significant blow to India’s batting lineup, especially considering the outstanding form he displayed during the recently concluded Indian Premier League season.

The 37-year-old played a pivotal role in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s successful campaign, scoring 675 runs, including one century and five half-centuries. His performances helped the franchise secure back-to-back IPL titles and reinforced his status as one of the world’s leading batters.

Kohli also made an important contribution in the IPL final against Gujarat Titans, helping his side finish the match and complete a memorable title-winning campaign.

Despite being in the latter stages of his career, Kohli has continued to maintain high fitness standards and remains among the most consistent performers in international cricket. However, the latest injury has temporarily halted his momentum ahead of India’s international assignments.

India’s concerns have been further compounded by uncertainty surrounding captain Rohit Sharma, who is also recovering from a hamstring injury suffered during the IPL season.

Team management is awaiting medical assessments before making a final decision on Rohit’s participation in the Afghanistan series. His involvement will depend on receiving full fitness clearance from the medical staff.

The injury concerns surrounding Kohli and Rohit come at a time when discussions about the future of India’s senior stars continue to gather attention. Their limited involvement in recent Test cricket has led to speculation regarding their long-term ODI plans.

With the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup in South Africa approaching, Indian selectors are expected to closely monitor the fitness and form of both players as they prepare for the next major global tournament.
