Government plans overseas employment for 1.2 million educated youth by June: Rana Mashhood

Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), announced an ambitious government initiative to secure overseas employment opportunities for 1.2 million educated Pakistani youth by June 2024. Speaking at the Good Performance Award Ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Iqbal on Saturday, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing youth concerns and delivering tangible results.

Rana Mashhood highlighted the achievements of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) since assuming office in 2022, crediting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for navigating the country through a critical period. “The government prioritized national interest over political gain,” he said. Notable accomplishments include reducing petrol prices from Rs 350 to Rs 250 within eight months and achieving record highs in the stock market through prudent economic policies.

The PMYP chairman also revealed that the government has secured agreements worth Rs 70 to 80 billion with international partners, reflecting global confidence in Pakistan’s economic stability. He praised the PML-N’s focus on stabilizing the economy, reducing the dollar rate, and ending power load shedding, which has significantly benefited the nation.

Mashhood reiterated the PML-N’s commitment to empowering youth, assuring that the PMYP office remains open to address their concerns. He emphasized the importance of equipping the younger generation with opportunities that contribute to national development.

He also lauded PML-N chief Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty, particularly through the 1998 nuclear tests, which strengthened the country’s security despite intense international pressure. Highlighting the significance of a robust military, he warned against efforts to weaken national institutions, drawing comparisons to the destabilization of nations like Iraq, Libya, and Syria.

Rana Mashhood took aim at political rivals, accusing certain individuals, including PTI’s founder, of colluding with external forces to destabilize Pakistan. He expressed support for the Supreme Court’s decision to allow military courts to try anti-state individuals, stressing that such elements would face strict accountability. Referring to incidents like those of May 9, he called on political figures involved to issue public apologies or face legal consequences.

The event concluded with the distribution of awards to outstanding performers from Rana Mashhood’s constituency, recognizing their achievements and contributions.
