ANF arrests 10 suspects, seizes over 31kg drugs in nationwide crackdown

RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has arrested 10 suspects, including a woman, and recovered more than 31 kilograms of narcotics worth over Rs3.5 million during eight intelligence-based operations conducted across the country.
According to an ANF spokesperson, a total of 31.338 kilograms of drugs were seized in operations carried out near educational institutions, airports, courier offices and major highways. Cases have been registered against all the accused under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, while further investigations are underway.

In Attock, ANF conducted operations near educational institutions and recovered 2.4 kilograms of hashish from a woman near a university. In another raid near Teen Meela Chowk, officials recovered another 2.4 kilograms of hashish from a rickshaw and arrested the suspect. During initial interrogation, both suspects allegedly confessed to supplying narcotics to students at educational institutions.
At Islamabad International Airport, ANF foiled an international drug smuggling attempt by recovering 938 grams of methamphetamine (ice) from the luggage of a passenger travelling to Jeddah.
In Karachi, officials seized 50,400 Valium tablets weighing 13.5 kilograms from a container bound for Thailand and arrested the suspect involved.
In Rawalpindi, ANF recovered four grams of MDMA and eight grams of suspected narcotic powder from a parcel that had arrived from the Netherlands at a courier office in Chaklala.
During separate operations on the Indus Highway in Jamshoro, ANF recovered 12 kilograms of hashish from a vehicle and arrested two suspects. In another operation on the same highway, officials seized 10 kilograms of hashish from another vehicle and arrested three more suspects.
In a separate raid near a hotel in Sarai Alamgir, Gujrat, ANF recovered 3.6 kilograms of hashish from a truck and arrested one suspect.
The ANF said investigations are continuing to identify other individuals involved in the drug trafficking network and bring them to justice.
