UAE seeks to enhance cooperation with Pakistan in key sectors
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Rahim Yar Khan on Sunday to discuss expanding cooperation between the two countries across multiple sectors. The high-level meeting focused on strengthening economic, political, and cultural ties between Pakistan and the UAE.
The prime minister was accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Federal Ministers Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Attaullah Tarar. The UAE President personally welcomed the Pakistani delegation upon their arrival at Chandna Airport and later hosted them at the royal palace in Rahim Yar Khan’s Cholistan region.

During the meeting, both leaders reiterated their commitment to fostering a stronger bilateral relationship. They discussed various critical areas, including economic collaboration, regional stability, climate change, and enhancing mutual interests on a global scale.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed emphasized the UAE’s keen interest in collaborating with Pakistan in sectors such as mining, mineral resources, and agriculture. He praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership in stabilizing Pakistan’s economy and highlighted the potential for increased bilateral investment and cooperation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to the UAE for its continued support during challenging times. He acknowledged the UAE’s significant contributions to Pakistan’s development and reaffirmed his government’s dedication to expanding partnerships in renewable energy, technology, infrastructure, trade, and youth skill development.
The UAE President stressed the importance of people-to-people connections and shared prosperity between the two countries. He underscored the UAE’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding ties with Pakistan and enhancing cooperation in priority areas for mutual benefit.
Both leaders agreed to work together on key priorities to promote peace, development, and regional stability. They expressed a shared resolve to deepen their partnership in areas that would secure a prosperous future for both nations.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Delighted to meet with my dear brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE, today in Rahim Yar Khan. Reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to further strengthen Pak-UAE cooperation and elevate our ties to a mutually beneficial strategic partnership. Matters of mutual interest including investments in Pakistan were discussed with a resolve to move forward together.”
It is notable that Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed arrived in the Cholistan region of Rahim Yar Khan five days prior to the meeting, accompanied by a high-level UAE delegation.
The meeting concluded with both leaders expressing optimism about the future of Pak-UAE relations and a commitment to collaborate on initiatives that promote economic growth, development, and stability in the region.
