Somalia Cancels All Agreements With UAE Over Alleged Sovereignty Violations

Somalia’s federal government has cancelled all agreements with the United Arab Emirates, including defence, security and port-related deals, accusing Abu Dhabi of interference that undermines Somalia’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

According to Arab media and an official statement issued by Somalia’s Council of Ministers, the decision was taken after authorities concluded that the UAE had engaged in activities posing a serious threat to Somalia as an independent and sovereign state. The cabinet stated that such actions violated international principles that require respect for the sovereignty of other nations.

The Council of Ministers announced that all agreements concluded with the United Arab Emirates had been annulled. This includes agreements involving federal government institutions, affiliated entities and regional administrations operating within the territory of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

As part of the move, Somalia has terminated all bilateral security and defence cooperation agreements with the UAE. In addition, contracts and partnerships related to the management and development of key ports have also been scrapped. These include port agreements concerning Berbera, Bosaso and Kismayo.

Somali authorities said they possess concrete evidence to support their allegations of UAE interference, which they claim has negatively affected the country’s national sovereignty and internal affairs. However, details of the evidence were not made public.

There was no immediate response or comment from officials of the United Arab Emirates regarding Somalia’s decision.
