Saudi Arabia’s World Cup 2034 bid achieves record-breaking evaluation score

Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup has achieved an unprecedented evaluation score of 419.8 out of 500, the highest in the tournament’s history, according to FIFA’s official announcement. The decision on the hosts for the 2030 and 2034 World Cups will be finalized at the FIFA Congress on December 11.

The Kingdom’s bid, submitted under the slogan “Growing Together”, reflects Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims to position the country as a global hub for major sporting events. Recent high-profile events like the FIFA Club World Cup and Formula 1 Grand Prix have showcased the nation’s readiness to host world-class tournaments.

The bid proposes hosting matches across 15 stadiums in five key cities — Riyadh, Jeddah, Khobar, Abha, and the futuristic city of NEOM — alongside 10 additional host locations. Saudi Arabia plans to host the first-ever 48-team FIFA World Cup in a single country, offering diverse venues and state-of-the-art facilities.

President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, Yasser Al-Misehal, emphasized the bid’s commitment to delivering an extraordinary tournament. “Football is deeply ingrained in Saudi culture, and we aim to provide an unforgettable event that celebrates our rich heritage and renowned hospitality,” he stated.

The evaluation process included a FIFA inspection in October, which assessed the proposed host cities, stadiums, and infrastructure. The report highlighted the Kingdom’s readiness and advanced planning for hosting the event.

Hammad Albalawi, head of Saudi Arabia’s FIFA World Cup 2034 bid unit, praised the progress made in football development within the country. “Our bid demonstrates our commitment to the highest technical standards. With cutting-edge infrastructure and diverse host cities, we aim to create an unparalleled experience for teams, fans, and officials,” he said.

If awarded, the 2034 FIFA World Cup will mark a significant milestone in Saudi Arabia’s journey to establish itself as a global sporting leader.
