However, event organisers will be responsible for ensuring that drones are operated safely and in accordance with applicable regulations within indoor venues.
The Home Department stated that the extension of the restriction was made after assessing prevailing security conditions and potential risks associated with unauthorized drone activity. Officials believe the measure will help prevent any misuse of drones that could threaten public safety or disrupt law and order.
The notification further clarified that intelligence agencies and law enforcement institutions will remain exempt from the restrictions and may continue to use drones for official purposes as required.
Punjab Home Secretary said the order has been issued under Section 144(6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, which empowers authorities to impose temporary restrictions in the interest of public safety and security.
The provincial administration and police have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the ban across Punjab. Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to monitor compliance and take appropriate action against any violations of the order.
The Punjab government reiterated that ensuring public safety, maintaining peace and order, and protecting lives and property remain among its highest priorities. Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate with the restrictions and follow all applicable regulations regarding the use of drones during the ban period.
