Punjab announces free education for children from families earning up to Rs 200,000 per month

- Children from families earning Rs 200,000 or less per month will receive free education.
- Progress reviewed on the Nawaz Sharif Centre of Eminence project.
- Each class will have a maximum of 30 students to ensure quality education.
- The project will be expanded across all divisions, districts and tehsils of Punjab.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired a high-level meeting to review progress on the Nawaz Sharif Centre of Eminence project, where officials presented a detailed briefing on the institutions’ development, admission policy and academic framework.
During the meeting, officials announced that children from families with a monthly income of Rs 200,000 or less will receive completely free education at these institutions, with no tuition fees charged.

According to the briefing, the centres are being developed in line with international educational standards. To maintain high-quality teaching, each class will be limited to 30 students, and highly qualified teachers will be recruited.
Officials also said that 10% of the seats will be reserved for students whose parents can afford to pay the full tuition fee.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the growing number of admissions in government schools reflects increasing public confidence in the public education system.
She further directed that the Nawaz Sharif Centre of Eminence project should not be limited to major cities but gradually expanded to every division, district and tehsil across Punjab, ensuring that children in remote areas also have access to quality education.
