Mansoor Ali Khan Claims ‘Political Storm’ Has Hit Islamabad, Says PTI Sees New Opportunity

Journalist Mansoor Ali Khan has claimed that a “political storm” has reached Islamabad following Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s recent remarks on the creation of new provinces, arguing that the issue has sparked unease within political circles and opened a new opportunity for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In his latest analysis, Mansoor Ali Khan said the debate over administrative reforms has created visible differences among the country’s major political parties. He argued that each party appears willing to support changes in other provinces while opposing any proposal affecting its own political stronghold, making consensus increasingly difficult.

Discussing the constitutional process, he noted that the creation of new provinces would require a two-thirds majority in the relevant provincial assembly, followed by approval from both houses of Parliament before becoming law. He said no single political party currently has the numbers required, making broad political consensus essential.
Mansoor Ali Khan further claimed that the growing differences between coalition partners could provide PTI with a fresh political opening. According to his analysis, if disagreements continue over the issue, PTI could attempt to position itself as an alternative political force and benefit from the changing political landscape. However, he also noted that this does not necessarily mean Imran Khan’s immediate return to power, but rather presents an opportunity for the party if it plays its cards strategically.
He also referred to recent criticism directed at Federal Minister Aleem Khan, saying demands for his resignation have gained momentum after senior leaders questioned his public criticism of the government while remaining part of the federal cabinet. Mansoor argued that continuing to criticise government policies while holding office raises political and moral questions.
The journalist concluded that Pakistan’s political landscape is entering a more challenging phase, with debates over governance, administrative reforms and coalition politics expected to dominate the coming weeks.
