Islamabad police summons PTI’s Azhar Mashwani, others over alleged social media unrest campaign

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad has issued notices to several individuals, including PTI social media workers, for allegedly orchestrating a malicious online campaign aimed at creating chaos in Pakistan.
The individuals, including Azhar Mashwani, Sibghatullah Wirk, Muhammad Arshad, Atta-ur-Rahman, Komal Afridi, Uroosa Nadeem Shah, and M Ali Malik, have been summoned to appear before a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on December 13.

The JIT, formed under Section 30 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016 (PECA), is investigating the suspects for using social media platforms to incite discord and unrest. The investigation aims to uncover the motives behind the campaign and identify any accomplices involved.
The IGP stated that the JIT has gathered substantial evidence linking the suspects to a coordinated effort to destabilize the country. Further arrests and charges under relevant laws are expected as the investigation progresses.
