GB Elections: PTI Facing Pre-Poll Rigging, Claims Barrister Gohar

• PTI chairman alleges party is being prevented from campaigning
• Barrister Gohar terms restrictions a form of pre-poll rigging
• Warns party may review future participation in assemblies

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar has accused authorities of obstructing his party’s election campaign in Gilgit-Baltistan, claiming that the actions amount to pre-poll rigging ahead of the regional elections.

Speaking at a corner meeting during the party’s election campaign in Gilgit-Baltistan, Barrister Gohar alleged that efforts were being made to limit PTI’s political activities and reduce its presence in the electoral process.

He criticized political opponents and claimed that certain leaders who had failed to gain public support in their own constituencies were now seeking votes from the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Expressing confidence in PTI’s electoral prospects, Gohar said the people of the region would reject such political tactics and make their decision independently through the ballot box.

The PTI chairman also alleged that preventing party leaders and members of the National Assembly from entering Gilgit-Baltistan and expelling them from the region was unconstitutional and against democratic norms.

According to him, such actions were aimed at restricting political competition and undermining a fair electoral environment.

Barrister Gohar further claimed that PTI’s political rivals had spent the past four years focusing on limiting the party’s activities rather than addressing public issues, adding that such efforts were intended to improve their own electoral chances.

He maintained that voters would not be influenced by these measures and would ultimately decide the outcome through democratic means.

The PTI leader also warned that if what he described as the political isolation of his party continued, the leadership would be forced to consider its future political strategy.

He said options under consideration could include boycotting legislative assemblies if the current situation persisted.

Barrister Gohar added that if meaningful political participation remained restricted, the party leadership might also consider distancing itself from the existing political system and reassessing its role in the country’s democratic process.
