Gas Supply Disrupted After Pipeline Explosion in Lakki Marwat

A gas pipeline carrying supply from the Betni oil field to Punjab was severely damaged on Wednesday after unknown individuals used explosives to blow it up in the Wanda Amir area of Lakki Marwat. The blast caused a major disruption in gas supply, sparking fresh concerns over the repeated targeting of vital energy infrastructure.

The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Saddar Police Station. Following the explosion, security personnel quickly reached the location, secured the area, and began a full-scale investigation to identify those responsible. Authorities confirmed that this was the third such attack on the same pipeline in the past month.

Officials from the gas utility said repair work will begin after a full damage assessment is completed. At the same time, efforts are being made to increase security along the entire pipeline route to prevent further acts of sabotage.

In recent weeks, several such incidents have raised concerns across Pakistan. This Lakki Marwat blast is the third attack on the same pipeline within a month. Earlier this year, attacks on gas infrastructure were also reported in Balochistan, where pipelines near Dera Bugti and Sui have previously been frequent targets of sabotage.
