FBR Unveils ePayment 2.0 System to Streamline Tax Payments in Pakistan
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has launched the New Payment Creation System, ePayment 2.0, a modern platform aimed at simplifying tax payments for individuals and businesses across Pakistan. The system, introduced on Wednesday, integrates directly into the FBR’s IRIS 2.0 portal, reflecting the government’s goal to modernize Pakistan’s tax framework and make tax compliance more user-friendly.
ePayment 2.0 allows taxpayers to securely pay various taxes—including Income Tax, Sales Tax, Federal Excise Duty, and Withholding Taxes—directly from their bank accounts through internet banking, ATMs, and mobile banking, eliminating the need for in-person bank visits. By centralizing all payment functionalities within the IRIS 2.0 system, ePayment 2.0 offers a unified, user-friendly interface that replaces the previously separate ePayment platform, thus removing the hassle of navigating multiple systems.

A key feature of ePayment 2.0 is the automatic generation of a unique Payment Slip ID (PSID), allowing quick and seamless payments for both registered and unregistered taxpayers. Upon successful payment, a Computerized Payment Receipt (CPR) is immediately sent to users via email and SMS, ensuring they receive official confirmation for future reference within IRIS 2.0.
The platform includes a secure multi-step workflow, enabling taxpayers to generate a PSID, complete payments through automated channels, and access their CPR in real-time. To enhance transparency, the system provides a comprehensive PSID search feature that allows taxpayers to easily track and verify their payment records, reducing errors and delays while improving the tax payment experience.
Aisha Farooq, Director General of IT and Digital Transformation, inaugurated the ePayment 2.0 system at the PRAL Headquarters in Islamabad, emphasizing its importance in FBR’s efforts to streamline operations and provide greater convenience for taxpayers.
With ePayment 2.0, FBR has taken a significant step towards a more efficient, business-friendly tax environment, integrating tax payment processes directly into the IRIS 2.0 portal and simplifying compliance for all taxpayers across Pakistan.
