Pakistani actor and host Fahad Mustafa has opened up about his long-standing dream of becoming a film star, saying that despite his immense success in television dramas, cinema was always his ultimate ambition.

Sharing a personal memory, Fahad said that whenever he participated in cricket matches with filmmakers, people would often introduce him as a film star. Although he was already a popular television actor, he admitted that being recognized as a film star was something he genuinely wanted.
“I used to go and play cricket matches with filmmakers, and people would say, ‘Look, here comes Fahad Mustafa, the film star.’ I would think, ‘I’m just Fahad Mustafa.’ I wasn’t hurt by it, but I also wanted to be known as a film star,” he said.
The actor credited his popularity to the positive image he has maintained throughout his career and his consistent connection with audiences over the years.
Speaking about the evolution of the entertainment industry, Fahad noted that social media has significantly changed the relationship between celebrities and fans. According to him, digital platforms have broken down traditional barriers and created a more direct connection between artists and the public.
Addressing discussions about favoritism and lobbying within the entertainment sector, Fahad said he has never personally faced unfair treatment. He added that while such conversations often emerge in industry circles, he believes the landscape has changed considerably.
“There is no lobby left in the industry,” he remarked, emphasizing that dedication and hard work remain the most important factors for success.
Fahad also highlighted the major differences between television and film projects, particularly from a financial perspective. He explained that films involve much greater risks than dramas because their success or failure is immediately visible to the public.
“At the end of the day, no matter how high a drama’s ratings are, the payment remains the same. Films are different. If a drama doesn’t work, people move on. If a film fails, everyone knows,” he said.
The actor also discussed his latest project, Zombeid, a thriller-apocalypse film released on Eidul Azha. Fahad revealed that he initially had little interest in zombie or apocalypse-themed stories because the genre is rarely explored in Pakistan.
However, he said the project became increasingly exciting during production and ultimately convinced him to take on a genre he had never imagined working in before.
“I never thought I would do a zombie-apocalypse film because it is not something you usually hear about in Pakistan. But sometimes ideas that don’t seem interesting at first become exciting once you start making them,” Fahad Mustafa said.
