12 killed, 15 injured as heavy rains wreak havoc across KP: PDMA

At least 12 people were killed and 15 others injured in rain-related incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the past 24 hours, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
The casualties were reported after heavy rainfall and flash floods triggered roof and wall collapses in several districts. According to the PDMA, those who lost their lives included six men, five children and one woman, while the injured comprised eight men, two women and five children.

The severe weather also caused damage to 14 houses across the province. Of these, 13 were partially damaged, while one house was completely destroyed.
The affected areas include Peshawar, Khyber, Mardan, Buner, Bajaur, Lower Chitral, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Torghar and Kurram. Relief and rescue operations are underway, with the PDMA, Rescue 1122, district administrations and other relevant agencies coordinating efforts to assist affected families.
Director General PDMA has instructed local administrations to ensure the immediate delivery of relief supplies and accelerate rescue and rehabilitation activities in the affected districts.
The authority said that water levels in the province’s rivers and streams remain within normal limits. However, intermittent heavy rainfall is expected to continue until July 23.
The PDMA added that district administrations had already been placed on alert and urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from vulnerable tourist destinations and strictly follow weather advisories issued by government authorities.
