Nadia Khan Hits Back After Saima Akram Chaudhry’s Criticism, Escalating Public Feud

A public spat between Pakistani screenwriter Saima Akram Chaudhry and actress-turned-television host Nadia Khan has intensified after Nadia issued a sharp response to the writer’s viral criticism over her review of the drama serial Zanjeerain.

The controversy began when a clip from Nadia Khan’s review show went viral on social media. In the video, Nadia mocked a scene featuring Sajal Aly’s character, Rabiya, sarcastically remarking that “Sir Buland” would come running after the character repeatedly called out, “Koi Hai?” While some viewers found the review entertaining, others criticized it as unnecessarily mocking.

Although Zanjeerain is written by renowned screenwriter Farhat Ishtiaq, Saima Akram Chaudhry entered the debate by recalling her own experience of working with Nadia Khan. The writer alleged that Nadia had previously damaged one of her projects through poor acting and questioned her credibility as a critic.

In a strongly worded social media post, Saima wrote:

“This woman is in dire need of a psychiatrist. A script that I wrote straight from my heart, she completely ruined with her utterly pathetic acting, and now she sits and judges other people’s acting. In fact, it’s not criticism, it’s mockery. Think of it like giving a matchstick to a monkey.”

Saima’s remarks quickly went viral, drawing widespread reactions from fans and industry figures.

Nadia Khan has now responded directly to the criticism through an Instagram Story, rejecting Saima’s comments with sarcasm.

Referring to Saima’s suggestion that she seek psychiatric help, Nadia wrote:

“Saima Akram Chaudhry told me to see a psychiatrist, so I did! Diagnosed with a severe case of ‘Truth Syndrome’—aka practicing free speech and calling out bad writing.

There’s no cure for my honesty, but there is a prevention for you: write better scripts and fix your production errors.”

Her response has further fueled the online debate, with social media users taking sides. While many defended Saima Akram Chaudhry and argued that criticism should remain constructive, others backed Nadia Khan, saying drama reviewers have the right to express honest opinions about television content.
