Pakistani cinema legend Nadeem, one of the country’s most celebrated and enduring actors, has turned 85, marking another milestone in a remarkable career that has spanned more than five decades.
Born as Mirza Nazir Beg on July 19, 1941, in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India, Nadeem migrated to Pakistan with his family after the partition of the subcontinent. After completing his education, he entered the entertainment industry with dreams of becoming a singer.

Although he was unable to establish himself as a playback singer, fate had other plans. His talent and screen presence quickly transformed him into one of Pakistan’s most successful and admired film stars, becoming a leading choice for filmmakers across the country.
Nadeem made his acting debut in 1967 with the film Chakori, which proved to be a major success and instantly launched him into stardom. He went on to become one of the biggest names in the Pakistani film industry.
Among the defining moments of his career was the 1974 classic Aina, widely regarded as one of the most successful films in Pakistan’s cinematic history. Throughout his illustrious career, he appeared in more than 200 Urdu and Punjabi films, delivering memorable performances in iconic productions including Aina, Talash, Bandish, Qurbani, Dil Lagi, Sangam, and Deewane Tere Pyar Ke.
His exceptional contributions to Pakistani cinema earned him numerous Nigar Awards, cementing his status as one of the country’s greatest actors.
In recognition of his extraordinary services to the arts, the Government of Pakistan awarded Nadeem the Pride of Performance in 1997. Beyond his acting achievements, he continues to be admired for his dignified personality, graceful presence, and professionalism, making him one of the most respected figures in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
