Under the proposed plan, students would no longer need to submit hard copies of their admission forms to the board. Instead, the entire admission process would be completed online, eliminating the need for physical paperwork and repeated visits to board offices.
Currently, candidates from both public and private educational institutions submit their applications through an online system. However, they are still required to provide printed copies of admission forms, creating additional administrative work and inconvenience for students and institutions.
According to sources, around 600,000 students appear in matriculation examinations under BISE Lahore annually, while more than 500,000 candidates take intermediate examinations. This makes BISE Lahore one of the largest examination boards in Pakistan.
Education officials believe that shifting to a fully digital admission system will save time and expenses for students while also improving transparency and operational efficiency. The initiative is also expected to reduce document-handling requirements and speed up the verification process.
Sources said the proposal is likely to be considered during the next meeting of the Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen (PBCC), which coordinates policies among educational boards across Punjab.
