Karachi Matric Results Under Fire as Technical Glitches Leave Thousands of Students Distressed

  • Students and parents reported server outages and multiple result-related errors after the announcement.
  • Complaints included incorrect roll numbers, altered personal details, and students being marked absent despite appearing in exams.
  • Board chairman has ordered an inquiry and warned of action if negligence is proven.
  • A special help desk has been established to resolve affected students’ cases before mark sheets are issued.

Karachi: The Secondary Education Board Karachi (SEBK) is facing widespread criticism after the announcement of the Class 10 annual examination results, with students and parents reporting numerous technical issues and alleged discrepancies that have raised concerns about the reliability of the board’s result system.

Shortly after the results were published, the board’s online portal experienced repeated outages, making it difficult for thousands of students and parents to access their results. Many users took to social media to complain that the website became inaccessible due to heavy traffic and technical failures.

Alongside the server problems, several students claimed they encountered errors in their records. According to complaints shared online, some candidates found their names displayed with incorrect roll numbers, while others reported mismatched personal information, including their father’s name. Some students also alleged that the same roll number showed different results at different times, with statuses changing from pass to fail or even absent.

Sources familiar with the matter said that the roll number records of hundreds of students were allegedly not uploaded or registered correctly in the system, resulting in confusion over their actual examination results. The board’s IT department has reportedly been unable to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the technical issues.

Board Chairman Musharraf Ali Rajput said the matter has been taken seriously and assured that an investigation is underway. He stated that if negligence or misconduct by the IT department is established, those responsible will face disciplinary action.

Following the result announcement, the board’s official social media platforms were flooded with complaints from students and parents. Many claimed that students who had appeared in all examinations were incorrectly marked absent, while others pointed out various inconsistencies in their results.

Parents argued that if the automated system was not fully prepared, the board should have delayed the announcement rather than releasing inaccurate results. They stressed that for matriculation students, accuracy is far more important than announcing results on time, as these examinations play a crucial role in determining their academic future.

Affected students also expressed concern that they may now have to visit board offices to correct their records and obtain revised mark sheets, potentially facing long queues, delays, and additional inconvenience after already enduring the stress of waiting for their results.

Students, parents, and education stakeholders have urged the board to conduct a transparent investigation, correct all verified errors on a priority basis, and strengthen its IT infrastructure to prevent similar issues in future result announcements.

Education experts also noted that technical problems, server failures, and record-related errors have become recurring issues during result season, calling for long-term reforms instead of temporary fixes.

To facilitate affected candidates, Chairman Musharraf Ali Rajput announced that a special help desk has been established at the board office. Students experiencing result-related issues have been asked to collect the prescribed form, attach a screenshot of their online result, and submit it for verification. He assured that genuine cases would be resolved before the official mark sheets are issued.
