Balochistan Govt, Ziarat Sit-in Committee Reach Agreement, Protest Ends

The sit-in in Ziarat has officially ended after successful negotiations between the Government of Balochistan and the Ziarat sit-in committee, with both sides signing a written agreement aimed at addressing the concerns of the victims’ families and restoring stability in the province.
Under the agreement, the provincial government committed to implementing the demands of the families of the Ziarat martyrs while working jointly with the committee to promote lasting peace and improve the overall security situation in Balochistan. A judicial commission will also be established to conduct a thorough investigation into the Ziarat incident.

As part of the agreement, a joint meeting chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti will be convened with opposition leaders and the families of the martyrs to review the province’s law and order situation and discuss future security measures.
The government also pledged to strengthen policing in urban areas by enhancing the police force’s manpower, operational capacity, and professional training to improve public safety.
The victims of the Ziarat incident will be officially recognized as martyrs under the provincial government’s existing policy. Their families will receive financial compensation, educational assistance for their children, and other benefits in accordance with the government’s compensation framework. In tribute to their sacrifices, selected government buildings will also be named in their honour.
To resolve public concerns related to revenue matters, a special committee headed by the Provincial Revenue Minister will be formed. The committee will include government officials alongside respected representatives from the local community.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti reaffirmed that the sacrifices of the martyrs would never be forgotten, stating that supporting their families remains a fundamental responsibility of the provincial government. He also paid tribute to the personnel of the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC), Police, and other law enforcement agencies for their continued sacrifices in maintaining peace and security.
The government’s negotiating team was led by Health Minister Bakht Kakar and included Provincial Ministers Zia Langove, Saleem Khan Khosa, Mir Asim Kurd Gello, Senator Manzoor Kakar, Bilal Kakar, and Quetta Commissioner Shahzaib Kakar.
