Karachi Braces For Heatwave As Temperatures May Reach 43°C

• PMD has issued a heatwave alert for Karachi from June 8 to June 12.
• Daytime temperatures are expected to remain between 40°C and 43°C.
• Citizens have been advised to stay hydrated and avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun.

Karachi is expected to experience an intense heatwave over the coming days after the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warned of extremely hot weather conditions across the city.

According to the Met Office, the heatwave is likely to persist from June 8 to June 12, with daytime temperatures forecast to range between 40°C and 43°C. The prolonged spell of hot weather is expected to increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly among vulnerable groups.

Weather experts have also warned that nighttime temperatures will remain higher than normal, leading to increased humidity levels and making conditions more uncomfortable for residents. The combination of high temperatures and humidity is expected to intensify the overall impact of the heatwave.

Health experts and meteorological authorities have urged people to take preventive measures to protect themselves from heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Residents have been advised to limit outdoor activities during peak daytime hours, drink plenty of water, and use head coverings or other protective measures when exposed to direct sunlight.

Authorities have specifically called on children, senior citizens, and outdoor workers to exercise extra caution during the forecast period, as they are considered most vulnerable to the effects of extreme heat.
