Trump Says Iran Will Be Defeated ‘Very Soon’ as He Praises US Economy

US President Donald Trump has said that Iran will be defeated “very soon” as he praised the condition of the American economy and defended recent US military action.

Speaking about the conflict, Trump said several positive economic factors had combined to create strong growth in the United States.

“All of these things have added up to a level that we’re just booming. The country is booming, and we’ll have Iran defeated soon. They’ll be defeated very soon,” Trump said.
He added that conditions could improve further after the conflict ends, arguing that the ongoing military operation had caused little damage to the US economy.
“I call it a military operation, but call it whatever you want. It’s incredible. It’s like it hasn’t made a dent,” he said.
Trump also referred to earlier concerns that the conflict could cause a major increase in global oil prices. He said some people had predicted crude oil could rise to as much as $350 per barrel.
According to Trump, oil was recently trading at around $79 per barrel after being close to $68 a few days earlier.
He said prices had risen slightly because the United States was forced to take “tough action” after Iran allegedly failed to follow what was required of it.
“They did not obey what they’re supposed to obey. They just didn’t do it. So we took a little action,” Trump said.
The US president predicted that oil prices would fall significantly once the situation settles, potentially reaching around $55 per barrel or even lower.
“When that settles down, I think you’re going to have $55 oil, which is all great for what you’re doing, maybe less than that,” he said.
