Security Forces Eliminate 12 Terrorists in KP and Balochistan Operations

In a series of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan and Balochistan’s Kech district, security forces neutralized 12 terrorists, including a high-value target, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Wednesday.

The operations took place between November 12 and 13, with the first conducted in North Waziristan’s Miran Shah area based on intelligence reports of terrorist presence. According to ISPR, security personnel engaged the terrorist location, resulting in the deaths of eight militants and injuring six others.

In a separate operation in Kech district’s Balgatar area, four more terrorists, including a key figure identified as Sana, also known as “Baru,” were killed. ISPR described Sana as a prominent recruitment agent for the Majeed Brigade, responsible for sourcing suicide bombers in the region. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the operation sites.

Following the operations, security forces initiated additional sanitization efforts in both KP and Balochistan to secure the areas and eliminate any remaining terrorist threats. The ISPR reaffirmed the military’s commitment to eradicating terrorism from Pakistan.

The recent surge in violence underscores the persistent security challenges in Pakistan. The Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) reported a dramatic 90% increase in violence from July to September 2024, with 722 fatalities and 615 injuries across 328 incidents. Nearly 97% of these fatalities occurred in KP and Balochistan, marking the highest percentage in a decade. By the third quarter, total fatalities in 2024 have already surpassed those of the entire previous year, with over 1,534 deaths recorded compared to 1,523 in 2023.

President, PM Commend Security Forces for Successful Anti-Terror Operation in North Waziristan

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday lauded the efforts of Pakistan’s security forces for their successful intelligence-based operation against Khawarij terrorists in Miranshah, North Waziristan. The operation led to the elimination of eight terrorists, with an additional six wounded and taken into custody.

The President, in a statement from the President Secretariat, commended the dedication of Pakistan’s armed forces in their ongoing mission to eradicate terrorism from the country. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to rooting out the “scourge of terrorism” and emphasized that operations would continue against all terrorist elements until the threat of Fitna-al-Khawarij was eliminated.

Prime Minister Sharif echoed this commitment, declaring that the government and the nation stand united with the security forces in their fight against terrorism. “We will continue to fight against this specter until it is completely eradicated,” he stated in a release from the PM Office Media Wing.
