Punjab Simplifies Driving Licence Process with New Online and e-Khidmat Services

  • Punjab expands driving licence services through e-Khidmat Centres and the Dastak app.
  • Learner licences can now be obtained from 15 e-Khidmat Centres across the province.
  • Regular driving licence renewals are now fully available online.
  • Authorities urge citizens to renew licences before expiry to avoid penalties.

The Punjab government has introduced new facilities to make the process of obtaining and renewing driving licences faster and more convenient for citizens. Under the latest initiative, applicants can now apply for learner driving licences through designated e-Khidmat Centres, while regular driving licence renewals have been shifted to a fully online system.

The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has enabled learner driving licence applications at 15 e-Khidmat Centres across the province. Eligible applicants can submit their applications at these centres, and once approved, their learner licence is issued immediately. The learner licence remains valid for six months.

The e-Khidmat Centres operate daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Citizens can also obtain additional information through the 1317 helpline or the official driving licence portal.

For regular driving licence renewals, the Punjab government has introduced a fully digital process through the Dastak app. Applicants can now complete the entire renewal procedure from home, including submitting their application, uploading required documents, paying the government fee, and tracking the status of processing and home delivery online.

Applicants renewing their licences must provide a recent passport-sized photograph, clear copies of both sides of their CNIC, images of the front and back of their existing driving licence, an active mobile number, and an email address. Applicants aged 50 years and above are also required to upload a medical certificate certified by a government doctor.

To apply, users must first install the Dastak app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and create an account using their CNIC and mobile number. After logging in, they should select “Driving License Services” followed by “Regular Driving License Renewal,” enter their licence details, upload the required documents, and submit the application.

Once the application is completed, the system generates a PSID number, allowing applicants to pay the prescribed fee through mobile banking, internet banking, or ATMs. After payment, applicants must complete the “Final Submit” step. The progress of the application can then be tracked through the Dastak app or the DLIMS portal.

Traffic Police have advised citizens to renew their driving licences before expiry, as late renewals automatically attract additional penalty charges, which increase depending on the duration of the delay.

Officials also highlighted common reasons for application delays, including uploading unclear photographs, entering incorrect CNIC or licence numbers, failing to complete the final submission after fee payment, and not attaching the mandatory medical certificate for applicants over the age of 50.
