PM Shehbaz inaugurates Pakistan’s first AI cloud facility, calls it milestone for digital future

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has described Pakistan’s first-ever AI and cloud computing facility, AI Cloud Sky47, as a landmark achievement that reflects the country’s growing technological capabilities and marks a major step towards a digitally empowered future.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony on Friday, the prime minister said he was deeply impressed after touring the state-of-the-art facility, which was completed in record time. He praised the engineers, experts and institutions involved in the project, saying it demonstrated that Pakistan possesses world-class talent in both its military and civilian sectors.

Shehbaz Sharif said the successful completion of the project proved that Pakistan could deliver internationally competitive initiatives through unity, vision and determination. Quoting national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal, he said nations are built through fresh ideas and visionary thinking rather than bricks and stones alone, adding that innovation and collective commitment are the real drivers of national progress.
The prime minister paid tribute to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s leadership, saying the project highlighted what could be achieved when state institutions worked together with a shared national purpose. He expressed confidence that if the same level of coordination was replicated in other sectors, Pakistan could overcome its challenges and emerge as a modern and forward-looking nation.
Referring to Pakistan’s success during Marka-e-Haq, Shehbaz Sharif said the country had already demonstrated that determination, courage and unity could turn seemingly impossible goals into reality. He added that while the journey towards technological advancement would not be easy, it was certainly achievable through serious planning, innovation and sustained hard work.
The prime minister also acknowledged the contributions of the Ministry of Information Technology, the IT Secretary and strategic technology partner ZTE for helping complete the project. He revealed that the AI Cloud Sky47 facility has an initial capacity of 8.5 megawatts and announced that similar AI and cloud infrastructure would soon be developed in Karachi and Lahore.
Calling the project a priceless gift for the people of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif said the new facility would strengthen the country’s digital security, enhance technological self-reliance and boost confidence that Pakistan could compete effectively in the global digital economy.
He directed all state institutions to align themselves with the country’s digital transformation agenda and concluded his address by once again recalling Allama Iqbal’s message of national unity, saying individuals derive strength from the collective power of the nation. He ended his speech by praying for Pakistan’s prosperity and stability and raising the slogan, “Pakistan Zindabad.”
