The All Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association has announced an indefinite nationwide strike beginning at 12:00am on July 22 after negotiations with the federal government failed to produce a consensus on the issues raised by petroleum dealers.
According to the association, a meeting with the Federal Minister for Petroleum ended without any breakthrough, as both sides remained divided over key demands. The main points of disagreement include an increase in dealers’ profit margins and the government’s proposed plan to introduce daily adjustments in petroleum prices.

Following the unsuccessful talks, the association confirmed that petrol pumps across the country will suspend operations from midnight on July 22. It said the shutdown will remain in effect until the government agrees to what it described as the legitimate demands of petroleum dealers.
The association has called on petrol pump owners nationwide to fully participate in the strike, urging them to remain united and ensure that the protest is carried out peacefully.
It further appealed to the federal government to take a constructive and acceptable decision to resolve the dispute, warning that the indefinite strike will continue until a mutually agreed settlement is reached.
