Petrol Levy Raised as Fuel Prices Increase Across Pakistan

The federal government has increased the petroleum levy on petrol, pushing it back to Rs80 per litre, while also raising the prices of petrol, high-speed diesel and kerosene, adding further pressure on consumers already facing rising living costs.

The government has also increased the price of kerosene by Rs11.19 per litre, taking it to Rs242.33 from the previous Rs231.14 per litre.
Meanwhile, the petroleum levy on high-speed diesel has been left unchanged at Rs70.82 per litre.
In the latest fuel price revision, petrol has become Rs13.18 per litre more expensive, raising its retail price to Rs310.71 per litre from Rs297.53. High-speed diesel has increased by Rs13.80 per litre, with the new price set at Rs323.30 per litre compared to the previous Rs309.50.
Industry sources say the increase in the petroleum levy is expected to add to the financial burden on consumers, as the levy forms a significant component of fuel pricing and directly affects transportation and overall inflation.
