Pakistan to host historic global space science conference ICAST 2025

Pakistan is set to take the lead in the global conversation on space science and technology by hosting the International Conference on Applications of Space Science and Technology (ICAST 2025) from November 18-20, 2025. Organized by the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) and the Institute of Space Technology (IST), the event will be held at IST’s campus in Islamabad.

This landmark conference, themed “Space for Sustainable Development,” will be the largest space science gathering ever hosted in Pakistan. It aims to bring together world-renowned experts, visionary researchers, and industry leaders to explore innovative solutions to global challenges, such as climate change and sustainable development, through space technology.

ICAST 2025 represents the convergence of two prestigious events: IST’s International Conference on Aerospace Science and Engineering (ICASE) and SUPARCO’s International Conference on Space (ICS). By merging their legacies, the conference will establish a transformative platform for advancing space science, fostering innovation, and positioning Pakistan as a key player in the international space community.

The conference will feature eight thematic tracks, including:

  • Aeronautics and Astronautics
  • Satellite Technology
  • Positioning, Navigation, and Timing
  • Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Science
  • Environmental Science and Climate Change
  • Information and Communication Technologies
  • Astronomy and Astrophysics
  • Space Law, Management, and Outreach

These topics aim to inspire groundbreaking ideas and solutions while addressing critical issues related to global sustainability and technological advancement.

Beyond academic discussions, ICAST 2025 will include keynote speeches by global space pioneers, interactive workshops, hands-on training sessions, and a product exhibition showcasing cutting-edge space technology. The event will also provide ample networking opportunities, fostering collaborations across academia, industry, and government sectors.

The conference’s Call for Abstracts is now open, inviting researchers, academics, and professionals to submit their innovative work for presentation. Selected abstracts will proceed to full manuscript submissions, offering contributors the chance to share their research with a diverse international audience.

Supported by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and the National Center of GIS and Space Applications (NCGSA), ICAST 2025 is poised to become a milestone event in advancing space science and technology in the region. It will not only showcase Pakistan’s capabilities in the field but also foster global partnerships to tackle pressing challenges through space applications.
