NA Speaker, PTI Reach Agreement on Appointment of Opposition Leader

An agreement has been reached between the Speaker of the National Assembly and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on completing the long-pending process for the appointment of the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly.
According to details, talks were held between the Speaker and a PTI delegation led by Barrister Gohar Ali Khan. The delegation included senior PTI leaders Asad Qaiser, Aamir Dogar, Atif Khan and other members of the National Assembly. The discussions focused on resolving procedural issues related to the nomination and formal notification of the opposition leader.

During the meeting, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan assured the PTI delegation that the opposition leader would be formally appointed by Thursday. It was agreed that PTI’s chief whip would resubmit the nomination papers for the post on Tuesday, after which the Speaker would review the submissions on Wednesday.
Following the review process, the official notification for the appointment of the opposition leader is expected to be issued in the National Assembly on Thursday, bringing closure to the matter that has remained unresolved for weeks.
PTI leader and former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser said that the appointment process would be completed within the next two to three days. He added that a constructive meeting had taken place with the Speaker, who has now formally initiated the procedure for appointing the opposition leader in line with parliamentary rules.
