LHC Rejects Immediate Suspension Plea Against Kite Flying Act 2025

The Lahore High Court on Monday declined a request for the immediate suspension of the Kite Flying Act 2025 and directed all concerned parties to present their arguments in the matter, adjourning further proceedings until January 16.

Justice Malik Muhammad Awais Khalid heard the petition filed by the Judicial Activism Panel, which challenged the validity of the recently enforced law. During the hearing, Advocate Azhar Siddique, representing the petitioner, argued that the Kite Flying Act 2025 was in violation of the fundamental principles enshrined in the Constitution.

He contended that kite flying is a dangerous and potentially deadly activity and claimed that permitting it could pose serious threats to public safety and human lives. The petitioner urged the court to declare the law null and void and sought a stay on its implementation until the final decision on the petition.

However, the court rejected the plea for immediate suspension of the Act, allowing its enforcement to continue for the time being. Following the court’s remarks, the petitioner included the Kite Flying Association as a party in the case.

The court then adjourned the hearing until January 16 and instructed the government’s counsel to present detailed arguments at the next hearing.
