Four Drown in Indus River After Sudden Rise in Water Level in Nowshera

At least four people drowned while bathing in the Indus River in Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Friday after the river’s water level and current rose suddenly, rescue officials said.
According to rescue authorities, one of the victims was a student. Local residents managed to rescue a woman safely before she was swept away by the strong current. The body of 31-year-old Anwar Islam, a resident of Peshawar, was later recovered from the river.

Rescue teams launched a search operation for the remaining three missing individuals. However, the operation was suspended after nightfall due to poor visibility and will resume at first light on Saturday.
Following the incident, authorities urged the public to avoid swimming or bathing in rivers during periods of high water flow and to exercise extreme caution near rivers and other water bodies, particularly during the monsoon season.
